Construction pathway

The Construction pathway is suitable for learners with no prior knowledge of the construction industry. The aim is to introduce learners to the career opportunities, at operative, craft, technician and professional level, that the construction industry offers. The pathway is designed to stimulate an interest in the construction industry and provide the basis for further studies.

About the qualification

The Construction Pathway provides evidence for Construction Careers: An Introduction. This SVQ qualification is accredited by the SQA, a Scottish awarding body which is now recognised in the UK. It is at Intermediate 1, roughly equivalent to an NVQ Level 1. For more information, see their web site: SQA.

Learners might also consider taking a further qualification, e.g. the Foundation Construction Certificate in Building Craft Occupations, which is CITB-recognised.

Initial assessment

This qualification is at Level 1. Learners should be assessed to ensure they have the required skill level to access the materials. This can be done via the Move On web site at www.move-on.org.uk or by an alternative standard form of initial assessment.
