Personal finance pathway

The Personal finance pathway is suitable for learners who may not have thought about money management and related issues in any detail. The aim is to introduce learners to the idea of looking after their personal finances and to help them think about the importance of managing money and avoiding bad debt. The ideas and activities are set in practical contexts and scenarios, and give learners an opportunity to improve their skills and develop their understanding in this area.

About the qualification

The activities help the learner to practise the skills required for the three mandatory units of the BCS Personal finance NVQ Level 1 qualification:
Unit 1: day-to day money
Unit 2: Planning your money
Unit 3: Choosing financial products and getting help.

This qualification is mapped against the Adult Financial Capability Framework which was developed jointly by the BSA and the Financial Services Authority to outline the essential skills and competencies for financial capability.
